The Cure — the British musical group, whose style of sounding it is difficult enough to define. One of pioneers of alternative fate and the post-punk. The group, despite an alternative orientation, has reached popularity and commercial success — all over the world is sold over 50 million copies of their albums. The group also has made huge impact on a birth and formation of Gothic subculture, having created excellent help for such veterans of gothic styles of fate, as The Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus.

In 1976 seventeen-year Robert Smith (a vocal, a guitar) with schoolmates Michael Dempsey (bass), Laurence «Lol» Tolhurst (shock) and Porl Thompson (guitar) has collected in Krouli (English Crawley, Sasseks, England) the group which was called «The Easy Cure». The group has started at once a writing of own songs.

In 1977 The Easy Cure have concluded the contract on record of a musical material with firm Hansa Records. In a year the group has been renamed in The Cure, and as a trio (without Porl Thompson) has concluded the contract with Fiction Records (distribution was made by firm Polydor). The first single left, however, on a label «Small Wonder», and was called «Killing an Arab». In 1979 there was a first album «Three Imaginary Boys» which the group remained isn't absolutely happy (in America this album has been published under the name «Boys Don’t Cry» ). In the same 1979, musicians The Cure under other name — «Cult Hero» — have let out 7 »a single. Then tour in which The Cure acted with other groups, playing the post-punk, among which Joy Division and Siouxsie and the Banshees have followed.
