Pavement, American indi - and a noise rock group.
The group was formed in 1989 in Stockton, piece California, and has broken up in 1999. Its structure included in the beginning the vocalist and guitarist Steve Malkmus, and the second guitarist Scott Kennberg. Later group have joined bass guitarist Marc Ibold, working earlier with command DUSTDEVILS, drummer Bob Nastanovich and the percussionist of Gary Young.

As a duet of Malkmus and Kennberg in 1989 have written down some the amateur singles which have entered soon in a minialbum «Slay Tracks 1933-69», let out by company Treble Kicker. Record has come into the hands to authoritative British DJ John Peel. That, in turn, has transferred record little-known British group THE WEDDING PRESENT; the group has written down a cover-version on one of songs PAVEMENT Box Elder and thus the American group has received some popularity in Great Britain.
After a while Malkmus and Kennberg have let out some more records, in one of which have involved the drummer of Ashes Young. When the first large-scale contract with Matador Records has been concluded and time has come to write down in professional studio the first serious album, structure PAVEMENT has been definitively completed by bass guitarist Mark Ajbold who has entered into it and drummer Bob Nastanoviche.
