The group was formed in 1978 in Birmingham (Great Britain). The structure of the collective which has taken the name of one of characters of a cult fantastic film 60 “Barbarella”, included vocalist Sajmon Le the Check (10/27/1958), keyboard player Nik Rouds (6/8/1962), guitarist Andy Taylor (2/16/1961), bass player John Taylor (6/20/1960) and drummer Roger Taylor (4/26/1960). Owners of night club Rum Runner in Birmingham which soon became residences of musicians became the first managers of group Michael and the Floor of Berrou. In the end of 1980 Duran Duran have gone to tour together with Hejzel About ` Connor and then have signed the contract with EMI Records. In 1981 the group has let out a debut single “Planet Earth” which has got to the British twenty. Let out after “Careless Memories” hardly has got in Top 40. However this failure has been with interest compensated after an exit “Girls On Film” which has entered into the best British five, in many respects thanks to a risky videoclip with naked models. After this the exit of two albums “Duran Duran” and “Rio” and such hits, as “Hungry Like The Wolf” and “Save A Prayer” has followed. By 1983 the group three times manages to break in the best American to ten. Well-known and bright “Is There Something I Should Know?” Wins first place in the British charts, still provides group a number of admirers. After such hits as “Union Of The Snake”, “New Moon On Monday”, “The Reflex”, “The Wild Boys” and “A View To A Kill”, the group becomes the main teenage idol of the country.
